I went out scouting for some out of the wind crappie spots today and boy was finding a fishable tough. Due to the wind being so brutal I had to fish shallower than I have been lately. I managed to catch 7 nice ones in 15 ft of water on a 1/4 ounce blue and chartreuse jig. The surface temp was 46 in the area that was productive.

Nah thats just where I took them out of the live well. I just idled everywhere I went. Yesterday was the perfect day for me to look around. I already know where to go when the wind doesnt blow and I have more trips cancel throughout the year due to the wind than any other weather conditions.

So did you find a few good places and just keep a mess for dinner?

You are a braver man than I I agree. Looked like the Fork Ocean out there at times yesterday. Only seen one truck and trailer at the 154 ramp. I came back across about 1:30 and it was really rolling. I fished Tuesday and had 20 in about 2 hrs in 35'to 40' of water. Water temp was 47.

Fortunately I never got in any big water. Im all about safety these days. And to answer your question crapicat I did find some several good spots out of the wind. I marked 15 to 20 on the gps. I didnt do much fishing just idling around looking. When I saw a good looking spot I would drop my jig down for a few minutes and then move on. Some places I would get a bite and some I wouldnt.
