Bald eagles in these parts are the hardest bird to take pictures of that I have experienced. If you can get within 100 yards of one sitting in a tree, consider yourself lucky. Unless they have a nest nearby... good luck getting a good picture of one without a long range camera.

Anywhere in the DFW area to view Eagles in the wild? Thx. Several eagles have recently been sighted in the area. John Bunker Sands Wetland center just southeast of Dallas had a sighting a few days ago and a pair usually winter there.
Last week an eagle was photographed near the Lavon Dam and one below the Lewisville dam at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA). There was another sighting on the north side of Lewisville but I suspect it was an Osprey that is always in that area.
You can usually see eagles at the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge on Texoma but best to check with the staff to see if you can get to them without a boat.
You can always see them in the winter on Lake Murray, a short drive north of the boarder into Oklahoma and over 200 winter on the White River in Arkansas near Bull Shoals.
I got this shot last January near Lake Lewisville
Good luck,
Blue Moon

Usually several hanging out below dam at Lake Texoma. This is probably your best bet if your not in a boat.

Probably about the same distance of the one I took a picture of yesterday at Martin Creek with a not so great camera.
