I just purchased a HDS 12 Gen 3, im looking to get a Navionics chip and I noticed there were several to choose from. I mainly just fish DFW lakes and occasionally toledo bend and lake fork. which would be the best Navionics chip for me to get? Any advice is appreciated. thanks.

Be sure what type of card you Fishfinder uses, some use the standard card, and some only take the micro card.. It will tell on the package.

Follow WayneP advice! Navionics+ regions south with SONARCHART. Hotmaps Premium does not have SonarChart and is missing lots of detail available in the SonarChart layer.

Currently you have three choices for the exact same map of a particular location in your area. Nautical Charts is Navionics data, Sonar Charts is unit user sonar logs processed to create HD mapping. Navionics Hotmaps Platinum South, it has Nautical Charts can have Sonar Charts downloaded plus Satellite overlay, 3D, and port photos. Navionics+ Region South, it has both map layers. Navionics+ Large US&Canada, it has all the Nautical Charts and can have Sonar Charts downloaded for the US and Canada. MSRP is the Hotmaps Platinum and Navionics+ Large is the same. MSRP of the Navionics+ Region is $50 less.

Thanks guys... I appreciate the help - I think I will go with the Navionics Hotmaps Platinum South. On your Lowrance, be sure to go into your settings and turn on the Sonar Chart (FishNChip) layer, this will turn on all of the new updates for the Platinum card. This is especially important for lakes such as Toledo Bend, if you do not activate the layer there will be missing data on areas that have been recently mapped. You only have to activate the layer the first time and then from then on out it will automatically turn on. For an example of what the difference is with the layer on and the layer off, go to the Navionics webapp and toggle the button in the bottom left corner, this is the same as turning on the layer on your Lowrance unit. https://webapp.navionics.com/#boating

Thank you! I am having Slade Daugherty help me set everything up once I get them installed, so I am sure I will have a lot of questions for him!

It really does make a huge difference and that is one of the biggest questions I get when working shows etc especially about Toledo Bend. Glad to help out, Slade is the man setting your electronics up, you will be very pleased when he is done with them. Good luck!!!
