Have they opened Newman's back up for camping? I miss it badly...

TPWD stocked trout in the ponds at Nails Creek and Birch Creek State parks yesterday. Since I was the only one fishing for them at Nails creek park I figured this is one occasion I better promote the fishing. Otherwise, if people don't show up and pay their $4 it's not likely they will waste the time to stock them again. I have fished for the stock trout at Central Park in College Station 3 times. I have only caught one trout in those 3 trips. Every time I go there the same man is there fishing for them. And every time he laughs at me and tells me he has never seen a trout caught out of that pond with lures. Not so in the Nails pond though. I caught about 10 using Briminator variants in crawfish, chartreuse and chartreuse/black colors.

I may have to give it a day run...check out Newmans and catch some dinner trout! Just got my first fly combo...looks like a great place to practice!

Cool post, Jamie. Those little trout can be fun on light tackle and artificial baits. I've caught them on in-line spinners before. Must have been fun on the fly rod.

May have to give it a try this weekend. Looks like a warming trend which can only help the fishing. Any reports of white bass in the creeks yet?

I am itching to get out myself. Thinking maybe the water temps are still too cold for a lot of males to go upstream. But still would like to get out there.....
