Me and my 20 year old who is home for Christmas went to walmart to get groceries. When we are checking out the cashier asked to see both of our drivers license because I was getting beer. She said that since he is under 21 they could not sell me the beer because he is underage and we were there together.is this some kind of walmart law or am I missing something

I think you had a cashier interpreting the law herself-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

They've done the same to my wife and I at Kroger. Apparently she looks much younger than me, even though she's 6 months older. Trying to prevent contributing to minors I guess, but seems a bit ridiculous.

Whoever carries it has to be of age. The clerk is just being safe.

It's Wal-Mart's policy, but it's being misinterpreted by the employee.
