I just bought a tube Sunday from Bass Pro. Aired her up only to find out it has a slow leak in one of the pontoons. It came with a repair kit but I think I should return it for exchange. Too early to already be patching it up I would think. Thoughts?

IMO I'd take it back.. It might be leaking along the seal and not just a hole. I owned one of them and it leaked also. Started going down on me while I was in the middle of a BIG pond. That is a terrible feeling. I sold it fast. (And yes I told the guy that bought it that it had a hole)

I was referring to Allen_TX_Basser himself. After the lashing he gave me and all the stuff he typed about my character, I gave him a little jab back. It's all in fun....notice the ROFLMAO smiley. You guys are trying to accuse me of being wound too tight, you should be able to take a little razzin' yourselves. Remember, it's just fishin'. I'm not here to argue with anyone. Peace out. oh yeah...take the tube back. Stay away from the Bighorn, Togiak and Kennebec. They are known for small leak or the outter shell coming unsewn. The cheap Lost Lakes tubes are the worst. At best you'll get a years worth of use. Not bad if you're willing to take it back every year and get a new one.

I hope you're using these: and not these: If you're using the ankle pushers, toss 'em in the trash and buy scuba diving fins.

BTW nvatexan - your sig - thats the funniest thing ive ever read !! LOL Thanks, it's a Jack Handy quote. As for the flippers in KD's post, the latter ones are the pits. I used those my first time out years ago. Also, you are in IT at Alliance Data? Interesting.

I have the flippers - im not going out with those ankle things based on man principal alone - i just need more "seat" time i think. and it might have also been my leaking tube 'cause i sure seemed to go in a lot of circles. these things arent much good with a good wind on the water either i noticed. btw - is the water skeeter day tripper a decent starter tube?

If you get more of a standard type float tube you'll find the wind not to be such an issue. The day tripper sits so high in the water and has so little surface contact that it's more susceptible to wind.
Get an ODC420, FishCat4, FC4 Deluxe or something in that class and most of the things you talked about will be solved. The movement part with the fins is easy at that point.
