I have a Garmin 73sv. I'm trying to find a good place to mount it on the transit of a 2012 ranger z118. Do y'all have any recommendations? Can't mount it to the side of the motor due to interference. The only place I can see is under the boat on the flat area buy the drain plug. Is that a good spot? Not many flat spots on this boat. Thank you

Need good pics of the transom area to provide advice. Mounting also depends on whether you want traditional 2D readings at plane or not. If this is important, the best way to go is with a splitter cable, inhull 2D xducer, and the GT30 for Side and Down. I can spec out the parts if you are interested in this.

Coach not trying to hijack your thread but I have the same questions for a 1989 champion.Bass pro installed my 73sv transducer and it has been hit and miss or image clarity at low speeds and will not work on plane above 18mph. Curious if they possible chose a bad location.

Curious if they possible chose a bad location. Thump, getting 2D readings on plane with a transom-mount xducer is always trial and error. If 2D readings at speed are a priority, I always recommend an inhull xducer. With your 73sv, to have this option, you would need an adapter cable, inhull xducer, and a GT30 (xducer that came with unit won't work in this combo). If this is of interest, let me know if you have a CHIRP or nonCHIRP unit, and I can spec out the part numbers. Otherwise, you need to adjust height and/or location, then run to check performance.

Mounted mine on the top of the step transum on a ranger. Thump19 your transducer looks to be tilted down. When at idle it will be even tilted more due to angle of the boat. You might try pushing it up a bit.
