Heard there was a gator attack on a wade fisherman Saturday in Port O'Connor. Any truth to that?

Yes. I do know the guy that got bit. He wants to remain anonymous so he will.
We should always keep alert, those big lizards aren't real smart and don't like to be annoyed.

The victim has written a personal account of the incident. It contains many specifics and can be found on the 2coolfishing site.

It was indeed a very close call. He gave the full story at 2cool, but it will remind you to stay alert. Maybe carry a spear gun also. [img:center] [/img]

Reading his account will make your hair stand up. I'm surprised it didn't do more damage or break any bones.

There is one more reason i'm not gonna wade. I was cleaning fish the day this happened, heard sirens and saw ambulance pull up at the fishing center. We went mountain biking on the island at the old air force training base a couple weeks ago. I ran up on about a 10 foot gator between the boat dock and the lighthouse.

nuts.. Spent a lot of time around gators in the Aransas River growing up, dad use to hunt them. They never made me nervous, even water skiing and seeing them or camping on the beach. Guess anything is possible
We did see a big one with Nathan last summer in Seadrift on the backside of the island..
Guess it's time to carry a glock in a chest rig!
