Fished the Saturday morning working man derby this morning. Good turn out and good group of guys. Apparently there was a youth tournament today on Lewisville today as well.
I am very disappointed from what I saw from many of these boat captains for these kids today. I have fished from FLW to all the local trails for 20 years and I have never seen such a disregard for boater safety / sportsmanship / courtesy. Most of the guys we talked to at weigh in chimed in with similar experiences. - Running on pad within 30 - 40 yards of other boats - Running on pad in no wake zones - Coming off pad to fish within 25 - 30 feet of other anglers - Anglers fishing 30 -40 feet from the bank having their lines ran over by as these teams as they drove between the anglers and the bank (happened to me twice today.)
An absolute disgrace and shame as now these kids in those boats think that is acceptable.

Not sure how many teams fished but it was a lot. I launched from Little Elm and running south at 5:45am there seemed to be a boat on every point and the parks at Lewisville and Lake Dallas were packed with people trying to launch.

The first sixteen years of my life that I can remember my dad was speeding ever time I was in the car with him- usually drunk. I've driven 30+ years without a speeding ticket and don't drink and drive. I have relatives that I admired and respected as a child take drugs, deal drugs, get convicted on drug charges. You guessed it- none of that for me. Kids turn out how kids are going to turn out regardless of an eight hour experience with a volunteer captain. I wasn't there to agree/disagree with your statement of a boat running on pad between you and a bank 30 feet away, but can tell you there are better (i.e. more effective) ways to handle it then griping about it on this forum. Did you take down TX numbers or call a game warden on the offenses that you mentioned that are enforcible? Did you do any research and find out what tourney it was and contact the TD with the offenders TX numbers so they could talk to the captain? Maybe you can contact the TD and volunteer your services as an experienced FLW angler to run a pre tournament captains meeting to educate some of those volunteers who may not know any better. Nothing personal, I assure you, and I'm sure there were infractions there, but there have been BASS & FLW fellas at all levels commit some,if not all, of those same things in the past. Same with every mid level, low level, working man, & club tourneys I've been in, seen, heard and read about. The high school tourneys are mostly huge #s. You put a bunch of boats on the water on a Saturday and someone is going to get butthurt- see Sealy threads in search engine. If you want to make a difference, try my suggestions. Or brainstorm and come up with your own.

Everyone's a critic and full of advise
My post states "I saw several boats running on pad within 30 to 40 feet of other boats. Not that people ran on pad between me and the bank.
If you are going to give advice... try reading the post first.
I'm no stranger to idiots on the water. Especially on Lewisville on a Saturday. I'm not "butthurt" as you say as these people had no effect on what I was doing. If I was as petty as you imply I would have taken down TX numbers and called the sheriff department. I was merely expressing my disappointment at the level of sportsmanship / safety these captains displayed and took time to share it on a forum. Shame on me for thinking I had that right.

Does it say on plane? Nope.. Don't see it from my house.
I had 1 team idle between me and the bank "less than 25 feet from my boat" and anther team that took the same path and fished while they trolling motored over where I was fishing.
Again if I was as petty as you suggest things would have escalated from there. I let it go, as again it showed poor sportsmanship and judgement but wasn't worth losing my mind over.

You are not the first person to have these experiences and like you have seen, many want to jumo the person for expressing their opinion.

Of course you have the right to rant on ere about wherever you want. I'm just suggesting you do something to effect change. I don't think it's petty.
