Anyone recommend competent boat repair personnel that has experience finding and repairing fuel leaks. Preferably repairing a fuel leak in a center console. Fuel is coming out drain plug from behind boat. Thanking you in advance for your help !!

I had this issue with my bass boat, after pulling out tank 2x ,replacing all lines and sender, it turned out to be the fill line from the side of the boat that connected to the tank. Was about $35 for that one piece, the old one came out like an accordion. Must have been a low spot in it and when I filled it up some fuel just sat there and ate it up. NO leaks or signs of fuel since.

Don't do nufin to cause a spark And that includes hitting the ignition switch. I saw a center console blow up on the ramp under the Kemah bridge. It wasn't a pretty sight. A guy was standing at the console when it went off. Blew him out of the boat and he only had a few scratches.

Fill line makes sense, as the only time gas is apparent is after fueling. Thx, one and all.

Yours may be different, but my Nautic star has access to that fill line under the console, and if you take the rod holder rack out of the one side the other end of it is accessible. It is tight, but you can at least get to it. I saw all that a while back while running a transducer cable.

Damn ethanol is the problem .Had the same issue on my old Cajun . Found out all the fuel lines had small pin holes in them. Any older boats needs to be checked often.

Boat fuel line is fixed, Nautic Star's newer models have a one way valve that keeps fuel from traveling back out of the fuel tank. A check valve for lack of better explanation. Problem is, the part is made of plastic and is prone to crack! The battery case has to be removed, which reveals the fuel tanks end and the part stated. And naturally, it takes a special tool to remove. $525 later its fixed.

Glad to see that you got it taken care of. Before I tackled mine, I would have to fill it morning of fishing or at least a gallon would be in the bilge if I filled up night before. It was dangerous and I should have taken care of it sooner.
ON the special tool note, son got a check engine light on truck, told him purge valve likely, its above the tank. I told him when he gets ready to try it to block the whole day off, it will be 2-3 trips to auto parts minimum and a special tool or four along the way. But it wont be cheap or easy.

If it's the same EPA check valve like what's in a newer boat you can just take it out completely. Some people have problems filling their boat because of those things and end up taking them out. On a bass boat the fill is high enough above the tank that back flow isn't really a worry

I had fuel in my hull one time. The day I purchased the boat I took it to fill up with gas. I unscrewed the gas cap, and went inside to give cash to the attendant. For some reason I walked back to the boat and stuck the gas pump nozzle in one of the rod holders and proceeded to fill up the boat. I had pumped 50+ gallons into the hull before I realized I was in the wrong hole. Oops. That didn't make me feel very smart.

Funny how a good case of Dummy can crawl on your back at the most in opportune time. That reminds me of a Cheech and Chong movie.
