Is it possible to insure yourself to cover cars you drive? The car I was driving is gone to the junk yard. I am keeping up the new insurance I recently purchased because the company is paying off. There fore I have no car for the time being but am borrowing my granddaughters car to get around. Am I making sence? Can I transfer the insurancee on the car I no longer have to cover me when I am driving a car I do not own?
**I will be asking this question of the agent when I talk to her tomorrow. Just wanted to see what the OT has to say

I think you would be covered under your granddaughters insurance but check and make sure it's in her policy first.

As far as I know, insurance covers the driver regardless of whose vehicle he or she is driving. It may become a secondary coverage in that situation, but in my experience, you are covered.

You can get added to granddaughters policy and probably come out ahead money wise. But if you have another wreck it could effect her rates going forward.

Ask your agent about a "non-owners policy". As long as you don't own the veh you may be covered. Ask and see what the agent says.

Yeah, our family's insurance agent set up one of these for my youngest sister. She doesn't own a car, but the policy covers her anytime she borrows a friends car (with or without permission).

Well, we all know that coverage on a $5K car costs less than on a $300K car, so how do they estimate how much the car she may be driving is worth?

Will it cover her if she rides a Horse she bought for $60 ? Probably but when you sell it and rebuy it you have to drop coverage then add it back on. That's when they raise your rates.
