It does look a lot like some of the fish y'all have posted I agreed it might be a domine, but it was caught several times deeper than they are known to swim. Guess we will have to see what they decide to call it.

I'm sure they can tell what it's related to by DNA; I'm nearly certain it's a snake mackerel of some sort.

I don't know the way they talked its something completely different from anything on record. I'm sure they'll keep researching it though.

Well, there's several species of snake mackerels with only one known species in a given genus. Same can be said for other deep water species, like sablefish.
