Best days I had on Cypress Springs were always during an East wind.

The fish bit...but I sucked at catching them.

On another note, I managed to get my line into the trolling motor. To a crappie fisherman, I guess that's the same as a bass fisherman getting a backlash in his casting reel.

It's all good...there's always tomorrow.

Wind direction is not critical, drastic changes in barometric pressure is !!

I have been guiding for crappie for over 30 years and had to fish in every possible fishing condition. If I had to pick a best wind to fish in at my lake, it would be East. Also, if pressure changes stopped me from fishing, I would miss lots of days. Like someone said, they are always biting somewhere. You just have to be able to read the conditions and adapt. Those conditions are wind direction, water color, lake level, moon phase, wind speed, cloud cover, time of day, and time of year, to name a few. I constantly see people fishing spots at the wrong time of day. Lucky for me. I have some spots that never produce good unless the wind is 15mph or higher. Depth of water is another thing that is important. I see lots fishing too deep for the water color. Where would you fish if your lake rose 10 feet in 24 hours? I usually catch 3 or 4 the next day, 10 or 12 the next day, and the 3rd day I am filling the cooler again.

I've been cussing that east wind for several days now. I'll be cussing this 20mph north wind today bang
I can tell you here on Fork the clouds and high east wind have done me no favors. There are always a few fish that will bite but it has had made a huge difference in the bite since Friday.

I would have to agree...spots where I normally pick up quite a few bites have only given up 2 or 3 fish, then have to move on. I'm not one to sit without bites..I'm hunting active fish.

Exactly! Couldn't have said it better myself.
