I know a very popular rod for trout is a med-medlight fast rod under 7'. What do you guys use for flounder? Also, what kinda reel do yall look for?

A much stiffer tip than trout or reds, hard to drive the hook home in a flounder because they chomp down so hard it's difficult to move the hook inside their mouths. Any 2500-3000 series reel with braid works.

Check out the G-Rods International 7M inshore casting or spinning model. Great backbone to set the hook, but loads nicely under a good flounder.

7' ML BC rod with my Abu Garcia 6000 with all upgrades and power handle. BTW, you don't need a rod heavy enough to snatch his lips off. All bites are soft.Just a good hook set will suffice with the right tackle.
