Them Spotted gar are neat lookin fish. I caught one last year at Lake Bonham that was probably close to 7 or 8 lbs. Looked a lot like a gator gar but with all them big black spots. AFAIK that was my first time to catch a spotted. Released it in good health.

Gar eat many times their weight in game fish every day. For the love of Pete, don't put them back in the water after you pull them out.

Gar eat many times their weight in game fish every day. For the love of Pete, don't put them back in the water after you pull them out. Funny but in my 71 years and hundreds of gar caught I can count on one hand all the gar I have caught on live bait. I am also missing three fingers on that hand.
