Wanted to get some opinions about the safety of eating catfish caught from Lake Ray Hubbard. I am talking about the 2-5 pound eating-size cats, not the behemoths. TPWD does not list a consumption advisory, but just wanted to see what some of you think about it.

Ray Hubbard is a source of drinking water for much of the Dallas area. The fish are safe to eat. However, wild catfish in Texas will typically have a higher mercury content than what you buy at the grocery store. I've seen some advisories that say pregnant women should limit the amount wild fish they eat. I've eaten a number of catfish from Ray Hubbard. (and I was already crazy before I ate them). Please take my opinion lightly. I am not an expert and you may want to hear from some others first.

As someone who fishes Hubbard regularly I say you should throw them all back..... so I can catch them 😃
I eat fish out of there all the time, swim in the lake and pretty sure my drinking water comes from there. I sure hope it's safe. Although I did [censored] in the lake the other day so maybe I should reconsider.

I eat catfish, sandbass, hybrids, and crappie out of hubbard and feed my family along with friends with it also. Never noticed anything but damn good tasting fish! I even eat the sandbass out of rowlett creek and the creek is nasty

Although there is an old trash dump and two water treatment plants that go into Hubbard I still think its safer eating fish from there than China.

Better than farm raised [censored] from china or anywhere, stay from the farm raised Tilapia and kitties, rowlett creek fish is prob better than the [censored] that comes out of china
If it's legal ain't no way in hell it's catch and release, it's CATCH & GREASE, except ROUGH (TRASH) Fish
