On my 788ci the chart speed is very slow. It takes it forever it seems to cover the screen when you first turn it on. This is the 2D sonar screen. I changed the chart speed, but that did not seem to change anything. anyone have any ideas?

What did you change your chart speed to and were you on the water when you did it?

I tried different settings all the way to max and did not see any difference. I was not on the water, this was at home.

It will scroll sometimes slower out of water. Put it in a bucket of water and it will run normally

It does need to be submerged and with actual echo returns in order to tell actual screen speed.

The scroll speed is different when operating on single frequency and dual frequency. Dual is slower since the pulses alternate.
Another thing is it is not fully operating unless it gets a satellite lock and loads the maps.
