I'm gonna be here with a buddy of mine and were fishing out of a little bass raider with a 2.5hp johnson on it. I know funny set up haha. Where's a good ramp to launch out of to catch some bass? Boat ramp 6 and 7 are close by but trying to find out if I should go launch any where else. Also what lures and plastics do y'all recommend for here? Thanks guys!!!

You might want to drive over to Rebecca Creek and launch up there. I think the river migt be better in a smaller boat vs the main lake during the summer with all the pleasure boaters.

In that boat i would pick one of the many in a cove. There are plenty to use. The lake is clear deep and rocky. Lots of smaller fish and a few good ones every now and then. Smallmouth bass fishing is decent. Caught one over 4 when I lived there. Shaky heads always worked well for me this time of year.

Toms creek should be fairly safe in that S.S. Minnow.

Boatramp 6 is on toms creek. I think its the best bass fishing area on the lake. And decently protected from wind.

For lures, your favorite soft plastics will work, especially in watermelon and green pumpkin variants. Another good color on Canyon can be redbug.

Launching upriver is always good, you can launch at Jacobs and fish around there without much traffic, same with Tom's Creek. As far as baits, anything small will get you bites; something along the lines of a shaky head, small jig, small crankbait, drop shot, etc.. As far as colors go, green pumpkin magic is really all you need.

Take a day and rent a canoe and float the upper Guadalupe. Great scenery, good fishing and not near the crowds as at the zoo on the river below Caynon dam.
