When you go somewhere and your lady doesn't dress the part do you say something and suffer or let it go?

Yes sir, I don't want her to be uncomfortable.

My wife will do stupid [censored] like put on a long sleeve shirt in the summer time because it looks cute. Our house is at 70 all day every day because she's always hot, so yes, I tell her she needs to reconsider her poor choice in as nice of a way as possible, "hey, the high today is going to be 101, wow that's hot....". I only give her one chance to listen, it's up to her to figure out the rest.

Mine tends to dress nicer than the occasion calls for. I let her know that, but she likes to look nice.

typically it's the other way around....my wife is always saying "you're not going out to eat dressed like that" and generally referring to me wearing t-shirt,shorts and crocs....
been my experience that most women have very little self confidence especially in how they dress....

Do you mean like if you go to a rodeo and all the sudden you are full blown cowboy and she wears her normal clothes?

When going to a family get together with swimming pool and outdoor food (burgers, hot dogs), I'll throw on tshirt, shorts, and crocs. Then I wait for an hour or more while she color coordinates blue jeans, blouse, scarf, makeup, etc ... and when I remind her where we're going, she spends more time packing clothes to change into for when we get there!!!!

We are gonna need some more info here. This has potential but we need what type of event, how everyone else dressed, etc.

I just wear package enhancing biking shorts all the time now. Works for me.

wore coat and tie for many years when I was marching to somebody elses drumbeat.....am retired now and my idea of dressing up for funerals, weddings, church and visits to the white house is a blue blazer(no tie),khaki pants and dress crocs...I gave away all my suits, ties and dress slacks so if going someplace requires something more formal,my ornery old azz will just stay home...
