Had some major hail damage to the hood and roof of my Dodge Ram. Thinking I could replace the hood myself and save a few bucks. Has anyone ever bought a pre-painted hood and installed yourself? https://www.paintedautobodyparts.com/dod...ASABEgL8G_D_BwE

Hoods are a hassle to work with, you'll need help.

Two people can do it. They are a hassle and they can be harder to adjust than you think. Just be careful when first closing before adjustments are made. Might put a strip of duct tape along the edges to protect from bumping until you get it centered.

Must be pretty serious if you can't have them popped out? Just saying because my ex-F250 got the [censored] beat out of it and when they got through with it, it looked good as new for $500.

Samson, it's peppered really bad. Probably 200 dents in the hood alone. The adjustor told me it would be less expensive to replace the hood and roof then pop the dents. I just thought I could buy a pre-painted hood and install myself to save a few $$. Then take it to a shop to replace the roof and use paint-less on the 10 or so random dents. Who knows, it may be less expensive for a shop to replace the hood as well.

Unless your hood is black, be prepared for the color to be off. You also need to be aware that the hood you selected is not factory, it's aftermarket.. it's not going to fit like factory and at best, it will need to be adjusted. Not to say it won't work - insurance companies force aftermarket stuff down our throats every day.
