I have a 12' talon mounted on a champion. When I use the tilt bracket, the plastic control box rests on the chrome vent on the back of the boat and the fold out support leg is several inches too short to reach the deck. I have tried moving the bracket but the shape of my transom just doesn't let it miss that vent. I'm afraid to use the tilt and let the case crack. I need to find a longer leg to mount on it that will reach the deck. I have moved this leg all the way down to the control box with no luck. Short of disassembling the whole thing to move the leg below the control box which I am not even sure if it will support it properly from that location, I need to find an extension or longer leg. Anyone have any ideas?
I just put up a carport to park under and need to be able to tilt it for it to fit under.

Sounds like it is mounted to low. Can you raise the bracket up?

No it's the sandwich bracket. If I did not have the vent in that location it would work perfect. Just the design of my boat causing an issue. I never use it but want to fix it for when I do

Has the kickstand been cut? Maybe try a broomstick or a dowel rod cut to fit. Good luck

Can the mounting bracket be adjusted to raise higher next to the talon?

No it hasn't been cut and the mounting can't be raised. I wasn't sure if MK made different lengths. I'm trying to figure out what to use as a replacement that will connect the same way

So you are using the old style original mount and not the newer universal mount? The newer mounts have all kinds of adjustments. It would be easy to raise it with a new style mount and then it would work like designed.

Don't know if it is old or new style but I don't believe raising the bracket would effect the issue. The control box is still in the same area folded forward and I'd only need an even longer leg

The new three piece mount will allow the Talon to be mounted closer to the boat which will change the position of the control box. Also, the Talon can be adjusted up and down in the mount as well as angle adjustment that might be able to help. The crutch is the same length on the fold down mounts. John

I think this is the new mount. I have it adjusted to almost touching the transom. It is the sandwich mount so the mount itself doesn't adjust up or down. Anyway, I just got in from working on it. I finally got an adjustment where it goes to the side of the vent. I removed the bottom clip hold down for the leg and slid the leg all the way to the control box. I then slid the leg out a little further than it was designed to go (the notch) but got enough of it out that it now supports the talon. I did not know how the leg was mounted, before. Now that I know, I'll just look around for a dowel or something that diameter that I can cut a little longer if I find that I need more. If I had known how the leg mounted, I would have just found a dowel sooner.
My problem is the way that a Champion back end is shaped. The bracket takes it out past the transom to where the back corners are angled forward at about 45 degrees. It puts that control box right on top of everything so it has to be braced at a higher angle and the leg needs to be longer than on other boats. Got it all worked out now.
Thanks everyone for all the assistance.
