I am new to the scene of fishing deep and am wondering what tips you guys have to offer? I know to get maps (even though im still not great at reading them) and read them and look for points and humps with the steep drops. Thats as far as I get though... so needless to say I need help any tips are greatly appreciated!

I am in TN. right now helping a friend with mapping on the TN. River. I will be glad to help you when I get back home on Tuesday night. I am also getting a new computer and some mapping programs to enhance my work. It will take a couple of days to get everything up and running. Please send me an Email in a few days and I will send you lots of information about fishing Shallow to Deep. It takes a long time and may hours of fishing to find these spots that fish frequent daily. You will get the hang of it and it all starts with finding the right contours that will hold fish year round.

I will add to the question . When fishing deep , let's say 25-50feet , how does the thermocline affect bass movements and how deep they will go ? My understanding is bass do not go below a well established thermocline let alone actively feed . Second , what are the typical oxygen contents below the thermocline ?
