I have an optimax that has performed flawlessly. Never have had to choke it once, even in winter.

I had to basically tear the back half of the boat out to fix the rivet damage a lake fork stump caused which meant removing the fuel tank. It's put back together and I'm fixing to fill the tank but wanted to know if there's anything else I need to do before trying to start it, as it's the 1st fuel injected motor I've had.

Best of my knowledge, Opti has a key on electric fuel pump. Might just wait 10-20 sec. after you turn key on before cranking.

Over the years I've noticed when I turn the key on I'll hear a pump running from time to time. Doesn't happen every time I turn the key, probably close to half the time. I've never delved into the workings of the motor since it has been so reliable, I just change the lower unit oil and impeller once a year.

I did have to change the upper oil reservoir when the magnet fell off the float 3 years ago, but that was 35 bucks and 30 minutes of my time, so that was easy. Other than that, not one issue.
