Wondering what your thoughts are on ride, towing, maintenance, durability, luxury/features, etc. let'r rip. F150, as I drive one and its done everything I've asked. People bash on them, but it's often people that think you can go 10,000 miles without an oil change. Tundra is very nice too, but too pricey. My dad has one that he got new (2002?) but he said he couldn't pull much with it. I drove it once and it felt a little cramped. Plus it didn't seem so stable when I was doing curves at 60 mph. It's pretty beat up now. Both ball-joints gave out while on a frontage road when my oldest brother was driving it. Then again, he's also the type that is not responsible with upkeep.

Right now I personally think the Silverados are the nicest half ton by a mile. If I wasn't driving an F-150 it would be a Silverado.

Right now I personally think the Silverados are the nicest half ton by a mile. Chevy's new tow ratings with the max trailering package on the 5.3L have really given it new life. low-20s mpg and 11k lbs towing is pretty awesome. Interiors finally received the much-needed upgrades also.

I have owned one F150 and it was a piece of [censored]. Tranny went out at 26/K. Guy asked me if I towed with it I said yes and he said it's not good for them. This was a Ford Service Manager. AC out under warranty, six coils (three under warranty, three I paid for) went our. Rear end shot/rebuilt (under warranty). I'm sure there is other stuff I don't remember. When it got totaled (young girl ran a light and T-boned me), it was a good day, I was finally rid of it. Did not come at a good time since my daughter just started college.
Bought my first Tundra. Never had a problem. When it got totaled after four very good years. Bought another one and have had it for three years now without a problem. Gas mileage does suck with the 5.7L but it tows great! Oh c'mon dude. If a service manager actually told you that an F-150 shouldn't be towing I have to believe there is more to that story. Maybe he told you not to tow a yacht with your base V6. Beyond that, did you ask him what the tow package was for? I've owned 3, F-150's and pulled with all of them, had 2 more F-150s for work and they have all been stellar. Towing capacity of F-150 is more than a Tubdra BTW. Who knows how reliable this evaluation is, but it seems reasonable to me. https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/ford-f150-vs-toyota-tundraAnd, I'll say that the Tundra is the only truck I would consider making a change to. For the reliability/longevity specifically. Toyotas have (rightly) built a reputation of making products that will run forever. And, if you drive a truck until the wheels fall off, it is likely the winner.

Tundra.....hands down. F150s suck. They're nutless.
Gas mileage sucks on the Tundra. But they're nice. I've had 3 of them.
Get leather, sunroof. The 1894 package sucks. Get the Limited.
That little 3.5 V6 kicked the Tundra's [censored]!

I would stick with the best selling truck for the last 100 years running.

If Caitlyn Jenner and Steve Buscami had a child together, they'd name it Tundra.

A good friend of mine bought a '12 Tundra and I bought a '12 F150. We've had about the same results and are both hitting 100k right now. Mine is faster, tows more, has a better ride, but his probably has retained more of it's value than mine.
Buy whichever one you WANT.
Something interesting: I looked at new F150's last month and found that my same truck is now 8k more than it was 5 years ago. So, it used to cost 41k, now the same truck is 49k. That's a 19.5% price increase in 5 years.
Times are good for the auto industry. Strong economy, low gas prices. But just this morning Ford announced it may lay off 10,000 workers due to slumping sales, which all automakers are reporting.
Soo, I'm waiting a year or two more to buy another one, in hopes prices will come down some.
