Donald, always with some great advice. I had a terrible day this weekend... Fished my first tournament solo and I went out and weighed zero fish. Talk about embarrassing. Caught 10-15 small fish all day but couldn't get on anything 14 or over and that was frustrating. Like you I threw the kitchen sink at them... Started the day with a dead set game plan and only 2 rods on deck, ended the day with 8 rods on deck and still no fish in the livewell, running to every spot I could think of. I guess those days just happen, will go out again and learn from it.

Get behind the console and graph. Catching is the easy part. Locating them is the hard part;)

I feel ya. Conroe is tough seemingly all the time for me. I too have got to get better at the deep stuff. Let me know what you figure out!

What I do is this

1/8 shakey with a lake fork 4" hyper worm

Weightless fluke

And then if that doesn't work I load the boat

Drop shot a finesse worm but you will have to experiment with colors since the bite is so tough. It will work.
Second option, fish a Super Fluke on a split shot rig but work it it very slowly.
Third option, fish a Senko type bait slow with LONG pauses inbetween.
Fourth option, throw a rooster tail. Jimmy Houston said that will catch anything any time.

Yep, may not be any fish where you're fishing. Don't if this will make you feel better but Rick Clunn zero'd once.

Sometimes they just don't bite. Just kick back throw a line in the water and enjoy the fact you are on the water. Can't tell you how many times I have been on the water and the sun comes up and I just set there and enjoyed my coffee.

Saturday was tough in North Texas too. Big Bass tournament that averages around 300 anglers had less than 50 fish weighed in. A lot of the anglers didn't catch a bass. Most threw everything they had.

Same thing on Cypress Spring over the weekend only dinks. Covered the boat and then Monday afternoon I caught 5 keepers from the bank! Never give up.

I ran into this yesterday, I'd been catching them fairly well over the last few weeks and couldn't get bit to save my life yesterday. I tried just about everything I could think of and nothing worked. I had recently ordered a pack of ned rig jig heads from Z man but I'd never experimented with them. Tied on one of the jig heads, cut a 5" yum dinger in half and started playing with the ned rig. I caught 4 in the next 30 min, nothing big but at least I was catching fish. I also lost several fish on this rig, the hook is very small and they come off fairly easily.

Were you fishing the ned rig like a texas rig or were you fishing it with an exposed hook? It seems like fishing it with an exposed hook would keep you hung up all the time if there is any wood on the bottom.

I was fishing it with an exposed hook around wood, and yes, I got hung up ALOT. Nice thing about the thin wire hook though is it will straighten out fairly easily, just keep a pair of pliers handy.
