I've been throwing the Yammamota D shad and as advertised it does fall a little faster and track lower in the water column.

T-rig with 1/4 oz to 1/2 oz bullet weight depending on depth, drag and pause. Works great around grass.

Back in the mid 90's I was on a Century Bass Club Top Six team fishing the BASS Federation State tournament on Sam Rayburn in the spring. Most of our team keyed on flipping the bushes with an unweighted Fluke on a 5/0 hook which gave it a great swimming motion to the bait. I was a non boater and while my boater would be sight fishing for a bed fish I could make multiple flips to bushes and ended up catching a ton of fish covering water that way. Most of the anglers were fishing jigs and different baits in the bushes but the fluke seemed to be the perfect bait for that week and we ended up winning the State title using that technique.

I flip weightless flukes with success on a regular basis. I always let it sink for a few seconds when I pitch against cover, then give it a twitch. When I cast them out I don't let them sink as much when I pitch it.

I've fished flukes c-rig, tx rig, weightless, drop-shot, jighead, and mojo style. Usually use watermelon seed, green pumpkin purple or chartreuse pepper. Sometimes I will substitute a Lake Fork Magic Shad.

What flukes do yall usually throw or have the most successful with? For me most of the year after spawn, Zoom watermelon with tail dipped chartreuse. In spring on cloudy days, Watermelon/red with orange dipped tail, sunny days, watermelon or watermelon\red with chartreuse dipped tail.

gotta put the bait where the fish are in the water column
it's unlikely a fish is going to come up 10-12 feet to get a fluke

3rd: Brent Ehrler > Flipped shallow wood mostly with a Yamamoto D Shad (gp), weightless and with 1/4- and 5/16-oz weights and a 3/0 Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Flippin Hook with weights. Also used a weightless Senko (gp) with a 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook. Said rigged right, the D-Shad will slowly fall diagonally which he said was key to getting bites. - See more at: http://bassblaster.rocks/classic-special...h.Dmt8B7Nh.dpuf

Erhler said he opted to throw the S Shad weightless. He wanted the gliding action so the bass would come out to eat it instead of having to pitch it in the cover.
