The ocean boats on Texoma put out surprising wakes. Just be aware of your surroundings and move to water deeper than the wave... Man is that the truth. Had one sneak up on me years ago while I was in a 18' boat. The wake went two foot over the top of my boat and completely filled it with water. Took thirty minutes to pump it all out with two bilge pumps.
I hate photobucket.

We had a deep-v boat come by on Joe Pool last weekend and he was just plowing, not running on plane. He swamped the back deck where I was standing. I don't think it was intentional, just lack of awareness of what your wake can do at different speeds.

45 to parallel them and let them roll under you. +1

A slab on a reel with braided can slow them down a bit.... I've had some real serious A holes come really close to my boat on purpose. time to take drastic action! Yes, I will be violent when they do it on purpose.

One good thing about Fork, Ray Bob and Palestine. Don't see any wake boats or at least I haven't. See a lot of pontoon boats on Fork though and they can cause a disturbance too.

I let them have it. (The lake) I'm gonna fish for enjoyment and there is nothing enjoyable about riding a wake boards wake that buzzes 50 yards away from me. If they do it once and head down the lake I'm fine. If they turn and make it clear they are going to make repeated passes, I find new water.

It's not exactly a 45, more like 25-30 degree angle. You'll get a softer entry and exit on each wave. Bass Boats differ as to how much wave they can take to the sides, especially near the transom.

Pleasure boats on LBJ can be bad but nothing can compare to how bad they are on Lake Austin. The lake is very narrow and the wake boats will run within a casting distance or less from you. I complained to TP&W and their reply was they don't have enough officers to patrol it, and the lake actually belongs to the city of Austin who is supposed to have patrol boats there (I've never seen either one on the lake). He said to get their boat number and call them. Yeah right, that's really going to keep them from swamping boats!!
