I’ve been spending a lot of time on lake Palestine lately enjoying the crappie spawn with uncle Herb, but I had a guide trip on Cedar Creek Saturday morning so it was back to chasing the striped fish. The weather was pretty typical for this time of year. Gorgeous all week while I was at work with a cold front on Friday just in time for the weekend. It was a cool start on Saturday but it turned into a really nice day. The bite turned ON mid morning and we put the smack down on the white bass. I did a little hybrid scouting after I dropped my group off and found a few on three different structures down south. My wife and son wanted to spend some time on the water Sunday afternoon so we braved the wind and hit the lake for a scouting run. There must have been one heck of a spawn two years ago because I have never seen more 9”-11” white bass on Cedar Creek. We caught fish on about 8 different structures before Slade had his fill with whites and wanted to catch a hybrid. We set up on one of my favorite points with a howling south wind and the hybrids didn’t disappoint. Check out the Football below! It appears that the whites have just about done their thing spawning and are putting the feed bag on! I’ve been catching most of my fish in 9’-12’ over the last couple of months but they made the transition to 21’-25’. Look for them on the edges of structure in that depth if you want to find them STACKED. The hybrids are pretty spread out right now but they should be ganging up real soon and be easier to target. I’m sure the point in the background will look familiar to many of you. It’s always worth a few casts on a stiff south wind in the spring!

I always wondered why someone didn't build a house there.
Great trip too!

I enjoy taking clients with their young ones, or taking my own young family members. Hopefully they will get the fishing bug and never get over it. Good job Chris!

Nice family outing's pics and report, ChrisR ! Thanks Todd I enjoy taking clients with their young ones, or taking my own young family members. Hopefully they will get the fishing bug and never get over it. Good job Chris! I agree, planting seeds for future generations that will be making the decisions one day. Even if they don't take up fishing at least they will have some perspective with good memories.

We have a house just inside the cove next to that point. I fish that area evertime I go out, only 5 minutes from the dock. Sometimes I never go further because it's so good there.
And there's no house on that point because it's all below the 325' line. You cannot build below 325', which makes that asking price really crazy! I guess if someone wants a house with a lot of land to view the lake, but it also can get very windy there off the main lake.

That makes sense. Maybe they could go coastal style and build a house on stilts
