Hello everyone. I have a chance to purchase a Lake home on Lake o Pines less than an hour from my main home. The home has a nice protected cove setting and a floating Pier. I know the lake is known for Crappie and I love that kind of fishing, but I also love to drift fish for catfish as does my wife. Please tell me what you know of this lake. Thanks in advance! John

BTW: I am not asking for Honey holes, just if you do drift fish for cats on LOP. Thanks, John

Call a local guide. He will probably be happy to tell you a bit about the lake.

It's a great catfishing lake. IV never caught any giants but also never tried. It's my home lake and it's never a problem filling the box with 2-5# eaters

Hello, We have a place on Pines in the Copeland creek area (thats about mid lake and on South side. ) Where ya located? I have fished Pines over 50 years, Bass, Crappie, Cat, Bream. We in the older part of life now, mostly Crappie and Cat. You can drift, but lots old logs and stumps and other things to hang up on. We cat fish in the river and off of creeks. Around stumps with "chum" . Some days its great and some its boring.

Lot of fun to be had on LOP when the bream are on beds. You can smell them feisty little rascals and they sure do eat good. All you need is about a 1000 white crickets and a cane pole. No need to thank me. Just call me when supper is ready.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

We would be opposite the Longview Boat Club. I love to fish for everything as well as Jugs or Trot Lines. We have a few years until I retire, maybe 5 or 6. I look forward to learning the lake. My buddy said there used to be a Crappie fishing house at one of the Marinas, where would that have been.

You in the Big Cypress Marina cove. The Longview Yacht club is there. When you go out the cove by boat the camping area on left is Buck Horn creek , very popular camping area . You are about 5 miles by boat,to Copeland Creek, go out cove turn right go about 4 miles to big creosote telephone on left, thats where Copeland creek boat run starts.

I think they had a fishing house at the Hwy. 155 motel and ramp. Not now.

Well all we have to do is wait on the closing! Looking forward to exploring the lake. If you see a 20' Xpress Catfish with a "Wing" rod holder on the back give me a shout! John

Pine Harbor cove is cove Longview Yacht club is in and I live in it also. You can drift in Johnsons, main lake in several areas, or do as 410MAN stated. Sometimes I just chum off dock and sit and catch some. Welcome.

Co-worker lives at Johnson's and has catfish coming up to food like a pond. The lake is full of cats.
