Plenty of Crappie in PK. The key is to find trees on points and small flats from Costello to Rock Creek. The rock pile in the back of chimney slew and other places hold Crappie. The best method is to mark trees with gallon jugs and rope when the water is low.. Then when the water rises you have something to hold you over the trees. The trees around sand island also hold fish. PK has an abundance of underwater trees. Don't bother putting brush in the lake. There is plenty of brush to fish all ready.

There is plenty of brush for sure lol.
I had already started hearing back towards Caddo when I talked to you. Found a few more schools of what I think was whites but they wouldn't bite. Then found some crappie in DEEP water !

That's very interesting Randy. I may need to go up there and hit those points sometime. Underwater trees are very hard to fish though if there is wind which PK always has in abundance.
I have added some structure in coves that attract spawning shad. There's always a lot of small stripers and sandies in those coves when the shad go shallow. I figure crappie cannot do that because something will eat them unless they have cover. I was fishing shallow for crappie yesterday in Neely slough and saw a perfect example of this. A huge LM Bass cruising around a brush pile that had some 8 inch crappie in it. I don't even think a 16 inch crappie is safe at PK.

The kiddos baseball is kicking off this weekend so my fishing time was just reduced lol.
But I'm hoping to be able to find them again pretty quick.

I caught some nice 12-13 inch black crappie a few weeks ago bass fishing, and yes they were black crappie. I know the whites get the black coloring during the spawn but before I got into bass fishing crappie fishing was my first love LOL I definitely want to target them more on PK .

Caught 31 keepers this evening in 1 hour. Plus about 12-15 unders. Will post pics tomorrow or next day when I get better service. A couple nice barn doors that my 8 yr old son pulled in. Not to mention my 4 yr old daughter wore them out as well lol

If the wind ever co-operates, I am going to try PK again too.

Luke98, don't you have baseball and other family things to do. I don't see how you can keep going to the lake right now. Kids first. Crappie for others who are not as busy as you. If you found the last remaining group of crappie on the lake, would be mighty nice of you to for go any further trips to PK this spring. Just saying.... I am just teasing, once again congratulations on doing so well at PK.

No offense taken buddy. We played ball from 830 to 1130. Started heading to the house and both kids went to hollerin " let's go to PK". Now what kind of dad would I have been to tell them "no fishing this weekend". The wife and kiddos love fishing more than myself ! Once you have been around us on the water a little then you would understand LOL On bright note ( for you ) I won't be keeping anymore Pk crappie til at least may or June. Only exception will be to update the youth record. 99.9% he broke it TWICE this weekend but I left my scales at the house and didn't want to drive allllll the way around the other side of the lake with out knowing for certain. But he caught two that was pushing 2 pounds pretty hard.
