I had a rough day on Fork last week. Launched and headed out to fish and found a stranded boater and towed them back to the ramp. An hour later I was ready to head to one of my favorite spots. I idled out to about 20 yards shy of the boat lane (the same route I've made for years and is well marked on my HDS), and trottled to jump up on plane and BANG, dang stump! My prop shaft was turning but the prop would only propell me 5 mph. I kind of figured what had happened, so 30 minutes later I got back to the ramp and pulled the boat out. I removed the prop and called Steve's at 10 minutes to 5pm (closing time) and they ask me where I was. I was 25 minutes away and they said come on I'll wait on you. 23 bucks later I was fixed up and ready to go. I can't remember the guys name that helped me, but saved me a half day or so of fishing. He didn't have to stay late to help me. I had never been there before and didn't know anybody. I expected him to say just bring it in the morning and we will get to it when I can. In fact I was told that by the shop that I called first. The one that I spend 400-900 bucks a year servicing my boat. After all, it's the busy season for boat motor mechanics. I am not slamming my busy regular shop, I am sure they are swamped. I'll be back next February to see them if not before. But, if it has anything to do with a prop, I'm going to STEVE'S CUSTOM PROPS. And I'm going to tell everyone else about them too. They will help a brother out. So I got back in the water quickly. My front lowrance went out on me (I fixed the loose connection) and then hit a stump with the trolling motor, not a surprise on Fork, but some how bent the shaft of my Motorguide. I think I have it straightened out. Will see...
So, I've never had so many things go wrong. But what I remember most is that I helped someone out, and got a helping hand from Steve's. On top of that, I got to spend time on the lake with my son and we caught a few fish. Life is good.

Not surprised- Josh and Steve are top notch. Just picked up another prop worked by Josh last week. This time a 27p Fury. I highly recommend them!

Oh- and I've had "one of those days" on Fork. 3 long-awaited days of fishing with my son for his 21st birthday. Day 1- 8am. backed off trailer.....no reverse. Mechanic drives from Grand Prairie to swap out lower units. Back on water at 3pm. Day 2 - 11:30am. Ripped trolling motor off bow hitting a stump at max speed. Day 3 - There wasn't a day 3.

Good post. Reckon your favor @ Steve's Prop Shop had anything to do with your helping the stranded boater earlier? God "pays it forward" too!

Steve's prop shop is known to be one of the best in America for prop work. I hear 2 names mentioned when I read about prop work, Steves Props & Marc Croxton.

361V, I think it had everything to do with that. I also think the Lord was putting up some obsticals so that my son could see how I react. I've been blessed with the understanding that a messed up prop or trolling motor is not a big deal compared to the brutality, poverty, and hunger that exist in our world. My son was actually videoing when I hit the stump. I said "that can't be good" as opposed to a rant of cursing that I would have done at another time in my life. I am blessed beyound imagination. #allways help a brother out.
