When using a float, cork or bobber, do you use a fixed or a slip?

Agree...depending on the lengths of rod being used...normally deeper than four feet, slip cork....less than four creek fixed...exception, treetops or thick brush then slip cork, at any depth.

I never use a fixed unless I'm using heavier line on a telescoping pole. You can set a slip bobber at any depth and it doesn't crimp light line. I personally don't like to compromise my line at any time because you can't control the size of fish that bites on the other end. JMHO

Totally depends on fishing conditions and locations. Fix float, slip float or the third method: floatless float.

I prefer slip with the bps bobber stoppers that can slide up and down easily and go through eyelets for casting. I suppose if you are really shallow it doesn't matter so much.

Slip. I add an extra bead to make noise. I can pop that cork and make those beads click together. It may be subtle above water, but that sound will travel down the line and magnify in the water below.

Both...fixed for a jig/bobber setup when fishing 4' and less...slip cork rig when deeper than 4' and when I am targeting structure.
