Average depth is around 63 ft. The channel that runs in the middle has places that are over 150 ft deep. We have had drownings where the bodies could not be recovered.

Thank you Sir. That is one very deep lake! Looking at the map it is also a very long lake about 60 miles! You have one beautiful place to fish!

It's also a tough lake to fish, but then I suppose they all are. It doesn't get a lot of pressure, an occasional bass tournament and a crappie guy or two, but it's mainly a recreational lake. During summer weekends, you don't even want to be on the water. The juveniles on their jet fleas make it pretty much unbearable. Add to that the monstrous wakes created by the wake boarders and the big cabin cruiser guys with testosterone issues and too much money, and the go-fast boats, and it's not a lot of fun.
Weekdays are the best.

Pretty much like the weekends, not quite as bad. You have a lot of kids with Daddy's boat and a 6-pack trying to impress their girlfriends. If you can spend your time back in the coves and pretty much stay out of the main areas. it can be bearable.

You should see Dunlap,Mcqueeney, and Placid during the summer months! It's a CIRCUS! At least Travis is a huge lake that can handle larger boats. Dunlap,Mcqueeney, and Placid are way to small to handle the wake boats. Just my two cents.
