Check out the intersection below. I was coming from the right and there's a stop sign. Obviously your choices are to go straight or turn right. This is the exit out of my neighborhood and I and most of my neighbors roll that stop sign daily 'cause there is no way anything will be coming out of that dead end.

On this day the local was sitting just out of sight to the left of the word Sawmill on the left. Sure enough he swings around behind me and pulls me over before I get 300' down the street. He hands me a ticket, which I'm cool with 'cause I definitely didn't stop for the sign. BUT, then he proceeds to lecture me about not being safe to roll that stop sign. I just about lost it. Told him I was fine with the ticket, but there was absolutely nothing unsafe about rolling that stop sign.I asked him how many accidents has he worked there. Told him not to bother, 'cause I lived here 18 years and never seen one. I asked him to explain where the threat was going to come from. He prolly wrote 30 tickets that night.

If you are a cop, don't bullsheet people. Most of us ain't that stupid. Just hand us the ticket and be done with it.

I am driving 5 mph under the limit with my hands on 10 and 2 for the next few weeks. All these threads make me scared of getting a ticket.

Prolly, LOL. And I always treat cops with respect, but it was such an obvious load of BS, that I had to call him on it. I was one the first few he nailed that day, he actually admitted there was no way anything could come from that direction. I doubt he tried to lecture anyone else about the "perils" of that intersection.

So, what part of STOP on the sign did you not understand?

#1 rule I always taught my rookies. Write the ticket or chew the butt, but not both.

Did you read what I wrote? I understand what a stop sign is for, and I was fine with getting a ticket for running it. I ROLLED THAT SUCKA on purpose and got a ticket I deserved. But don't insult my intelligence by telling me it was UNSAFE when there is no way anything will be coming in from the left. He even admitted there hadn't been any accidents there, he was just writing tickets because he could.

I don't like being lectured to either but, just because nothing could be coming from the left but isn't it possible that something could be coming from the right? The trees on the corner would blindside both directions No?

Anything is possible, so I reckon someone could be traveling down the WRONG side of the street. I'm just saying in 18 years of living here, I've never seen it happen, and there's never been one accident at that intersection even with the dozens of vehicles rolling that stop sign all day long.

Wrong way? Sawmill looks to be going both ways divided by a median.

why not call your traffic department and ask them to look at the situation and suggest they replace the stop sign with a yield sign....
