After a number of break offs on fish and timber I had to see if it was my knot or the line that was breaking.
As a preface, I am only posting to share results... not to downplay and product.
Line tested was Berkeley 100% Florocarbon Vanish 20lb test.
I used multiple knots like the uni knot, double uni, cinch, improved cinch and polymer knot.
With each knot I tied to an equal size eyelet to a 4/0 hook to the weight source and the pulling source.
With a slow lift I was never able to get 20 lbs off the ground.
As a sanity check my friend used his copolymer pline cxx Xtra strong 20lb test with a uni knot and was able to lift the 20lbs and give it a little bounce before breaking, same result with each knot.

Vanish is garbage. It was horrible line when they were charging $10.00 a spool and it is still garbage at $20.00 a spool. Where line is concerned you are always better off spending a few dollars more and going with a brand that's only product is line.

I did the exact test with Sunline Sniper 16lb VS Big Game 15lb. No mater what knot I tied the 16lb Sniper would not lift 15 lbs of weight off the floor, it broke every time. The 15lb Big Game would lift the weight off the floor with what ever knot I tied. Ive tried and tried but I just can't buy into the fluorocarbon craze.

I am done with floro for the most part. It will be hard to try it again.

Thanks for posting your results! Interesting though not a surprise with Vanish, it's usually berated when the floro brand topic comes up. Just remember, mono still does everything it did before floro got popular for freshwater bass fishing. If it ain't broke then don't........

I am interested in the P-Line copolymer but I'm done with fluoro. Big Game is cheap and reliable.

You are absolutely right 361V, this is a bandwagon I shouldn't have jumped on.

I lost three jigs and he brought in three large limbs.... he was so tangled up at one time he was close to cutting the line and said "screw it" pulled until nearly straightening hig 5/0 hook... didn't break the line.

Only fluorocarbon I use is red label with line conditioner. I refuse to pay for the expensive stuff anymore. 20lb red label is very strong imo. If using copolymer, I use izorline or mcoys
