I didn't know this. You sure?

Why didn't he just give the guy his insurance information and tell him they would take care of the dent. Unless the victim was a total low life making a false allegation about a dent that has been there for 6 months. I realize there are those type of con artists out there too.

The moral of the story is do not tell someone you are armed when you are not.

It would have been best to drive away.

Thanks, Billy

I'm pretty sure that is the case. I didn't know that either until someone posted it here a couple years ago. Think it was hop that posted it. Although I don't remember that you had to have a CCL or LTC. I thought as long as it was decided the CD was in effect you were free from any civil suits.

X2 that was a very stupid move...

I believe in Texas, you can be sued in civil court for anything at any time. The key is proving it was a legitimate self defense case. At that point the case should be thrown out, the plaintiff pays the legal fees, and you go on your way. That is the way, in Texas, it is supposed to work, but the justice system is fickle. This is my understanding of the civil law, but I am not a lawyer.

If you're the kind of person that would shoot someone over a door ding, perhaps you should leave the fire arm at home.

If you're not the kind of person who would shoot someone over a door ding you need to carry. There are fools that clear that will shoot you por nada.

Makes you wonder, if the shooter was unarmed initially, would he have backed down with no confrontation. I sometimes think guys may push the situation since they ARE armed

Why sit there and argue as well. Simply drive off. Right or wrong I would hate to think I killed a man over a damn door ding. Its a sad state of affairs when we as a society cannot work out something so trivial without resorting to violence and threats. Don't know who did what but both could have avoided the whole damn situation by communicating.

I like to think of it as it was only new once.

It got dang vehicle.

Drodge knocked a chip off of my gel coat driving over a pond dam and I didn't shoot him.

If your armed you deescalate the situation as fast as you can or leave. Anything above and beyond that is just asking for a lot of trouble.

I have been around plenty of morons I suspect will behave in the manner you describe. They are sort of pu&$&@-s and feel empowered. Clearly both were idiots. I assume both went to get some groceries. One managed to shoot someone and one managed to get shot over a door ding. Brilliant. What ever happened to just kicking someone's arse?

This. I'd try all I could to get out of there without engaging in any way physically and certainly with a firearm. Carrying is a great responsibility.

Because UFC and shows like it have sensationalized whoopin' someones [censored] to prove a point. Not much of show if they come to an agreement and shake hands like grown men.

I wonder why they still haven't released the name of the shooter. Seems a little suspicious to me.
