My dad found out a while back he had it. Medication is helping but he is having severe weight loss. He is down to 212 from 290 in just a couple months. He ets five times a day but has no bow movements, just gas. He looks bad. I am very concerned. Anyone dealt with this? I am taking him to the doctor tomorrow for a sonogram on his gallbladder.

There's some research out that believes that new onset type 2 diabetes after the age of 50 maybe an early warning for pancreatic cancer. My Dad developed diabetes after the age of 50. A couple of years ago he was losing a ton of weight. He was always I big guy, and this was the smallest that I can remember seeing him. He ended up being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. You may want to have the Dr check into that as well. Best of luck to y'all.

The doc has done lots of blood tests and doesn't think cancer but they are doing a sonogram tomorrow.

I've probably gained 75 lbs since I was diagnosed. I think there is another problem. Your dad needs a top to bottom physical including blood work.

Pet/cat scan will find anything you might have.. Just had one a week ago, keeping an eye on my cancer. My Mother is a type 2, she could stand to lose some weight Imo, she has a minimum of 3 shots a day, diabetes sux's.. It effects most people differently....

Not sure what medication he's on but when I first got on my meds it really tore my stomach up. I would be fine one minute and the next it's gotta go RIGHT NOW!. It should get better after a month or so. If not he needs to talk to his Dr. about different meds.

Two Friends of mine has been dealing with insurance not wanting to give him the meds he has been using for years. Apparently they one they want to give them does not work, they have to get the doc to appeal it and it takes a LONG time to correct. Might be some food for thought.

I have type 2. I take med's for it but have not had any of those problems.. Need to get it checked

With the severe quick weight loss of 78 lbs, it could be an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Is he having back pain and pulsating stomach? Tell him to mention before tests to day. Best wishes.

I have it, take 2 meds and test twice a day. I began walking/running a mile and a half a day in early october, went zero sugar and very low carb........havent lost any weight.

my doctor took me off Metforten(SP) the week of Thanksgiving

lost 33 pounds since May
