This is my first time ever going to Lake Texoma. Supposed to be a nice day for fishing on Sunday so me and a buddy are heading up. Our goal is to catch a few small mouth but neither one of us have ever fished for them. We are going to fish the South East portion of the lake because TPWD says this is their main habitat. Just looking for pointers on bait and locations to find them. water clarity is supposed to be pretty clear so what time of line would you prefer as well? Any info would help. thanks guys.

The rock ledges and points in front of Eisenhower state park normally hold some small and large mouth. If it isn't to windy i normally throw a dropshot or pull a texas rigged plug down off of the boulders. If they are suspended off the rocks a swim bait should be able to get em to bight.

Craw colored trap on points. I'd also watch for shad and target those areas with the trap as well. Good luck!

I went Tuesday and the fish were up shallow in the morning, then they moved deeper midday. Jerk bait worked well in the morning...top water if you see fish breaking surface. As fish move out use your graph to find them and drop a spoon. Seems like they are moving a lot and in singles to a couple of fish. Rock and points. Focus on areas where you see bait. Fish are always with bait balls. I caught a lot of good ones. Cover water!

This time of year a black and blue tube works well also. Let it fall off the ledges and boulders. Dragging a crawfish colored crankbait across points and ledges works well too make sure it is diggin into the rocks u will break a few.
reason for edit sometimes I'm just dumb.

I haven't been to Texoma since the flood in May of last year, however I'll give you the techniques I used before then to always catch smallmouth. Hit the ledges near Eisenhower park and even the rock jetties along the dam. Don't be afraid to move to points with docks/boat houses or other cover if you feel more comfortable fishing that way. The smallmouth really seem to move around in Texoma and I often end up fishing quite a few spots in a day, but you normally don't have to move too far. Start with a natural shad colored(if clear water, chartreuse if dirty water) crankbait around rocks and ledges to find fish. If it slows down or they don't react at all to the crankbait, grab a black/blue or green pumpkin jig with trailer or a similar colored tube with rattle if you really want to fish slow. Again, focus on ledges, rocks and docks. Good Luck

You may want to check the fishing report section from a month or so ago, I asked the same question about Texoma smallmouth and got a few good tips. Unfortunately, the day I went was windy as hell, and I didn't stay on the rocky points too long. I did find some adjacent coves and some largemouth...

thanks guys for the help. Hopefully the wind will lay down for us and allow us to fish. I also checked out the FSW fishing report and honey hole and it seems pretty spot on with the information you guys are giving me. thank you for your help. ill try to post some pics. Hopefully
