What time of year and water temp is it best to or not to use this topwater? Just ordered a few from tacklewarehouse and wanted to gain a little insight. Thanks for your input

Right at the tail end of the spawn is when they really start working well. May is pretty much topwater month here in N. TX. Once the water hits high 60's they will bite it. Water temp in the 70's is probably optimum but don't rule anything out in bass fishing.
They will eat it all summer but it can be first hour of dawn and last hour of dusk thing in the summer. Oct & Nov can also be good when the bass are schooling chasing shad.

Best times for me with popper walkers Post spawn to shad spawn. Sunrise/sunset low light conditions through the summer Shad running to creeks/kill off
60-85 degree water temps I'll have the most confidence

Thank you for the input. Do y'all have a preference on 1/4 ounce or 1/2 ounce?

I've caught bass to 6+ lbs on a 1/4 oz Bone (favorite color)... maybe the 1/2 oz would get me a 12 lber...

Thank you for the input. Do y'all have a preference on 1/4 ounce or 1/2 ounce? I like the small one but some folks have a hard time throwing it. You need the right rod to throw it well. I use 15# Big Game line and a soft tipped rod. Also check out the Lake Fork Tackle Popper

You will love them, I like the 1/4 in Tennessee shad , Alewife and Smoke Shad.
If it was easy, everyone would do it

I literally have one on deck year round. Warmer months are better, and I've caught fish throughout the day with it. I think I have 14 now, all except one are 1/4 oz. Not sure why I have all the colors, I only throw the 1/4 smoke shad and the majority of the paint on the one's I throw are almost all gone. The Dobyns 684cb is awesome for the smaller YM, with the right reel, you can throw a rope with one. I use 12lb. Big Game, back off the drag and only use the factory hooks when replacing.

15lb mono or copoly... bone color is my go to, and there's one on my deck year round.
