Is the transducer bundled with the Helix CHIRP units the same as the one with the 999 and 1199? In the Operations Summary Guide, one section starts off with " If you have a CHIRP transducer..." It's a little confusing. I thought they were the same.

My understanding it is the same transducer, just software in the 12 works the chirp. I believe they are talking about a special chirp transducer that is for off shore.

Yes the "IF" part is a transducer from another source. AIRMAR makes true CHIRP transducer that is universal and would take a Humminbird transducer cable to connect it. AIRMAR does not have one that is cabled for a Humminbird unit. AND Humminbird does not have a true low-Q CHIRP transducer.

So do we not get the CHIRP feature with the standard HB transducer?

The unit will be able to use chirp right out of the box with the hdsi transducer that comes with it.

The Helix 12 SI GPS CHIRP's the included XHS 9 HDSI SI 180 T transducer for 2D sonar. That is the same transducer that any core or Helix SI unit uses/can use.
The new Helix G2 CHIRP units CHIRP the included transducer in 2D and Imaging whether it's the 2D, DI or SI version.
The new Helix G2N MEGA CHIRP SI units CHIRP its new SI transducer for 2D and Imaging that has a dedicated DI crystal like the ONIX SI transducer has.
The original ONIX units got a software update to CHIRP the 2D crystal in the ONIX SI transducer.
