What do you consider is too much wind to take the lake? Some boats handle better than others so I take it that would obviously matter but I have seen some tournaments like the TTBC be so windy (while pros take points and wind head on) that I question if I would do the same or look for a cove?

35mph and I'm out...30 is alright if you're at the right lake.

Fun fishing: If my trolling motor won't stay in the water, I'm looking for calmer seas.
Tournament: Fish where the fish are no matter the conditions with the exception of lightning.

Depends on the lake. 15-20 on Tawakoni out of the south and you better have a BIG boat. Toledo Bend and Rayburn you can get in one of the EW coves and be fine, also Fork has some EW coves that can be fished. At 30mph hard to keep the trolling motor in the water and why even in a tournament.

I'll go out in 25 and maybe even 30 but only if I can find places to fish out of the wind. Don't care about standing in the big waves and feeling bits is too hard. I have a terrova so I can easily hold a spot in the rough water just don't want to.
All depends on the boat though. My last boat, anything over 15 beat you to death and you'd be soaked so I didn't go out in it over 15

depends on fish bite it sure is fun to cast square bills on points during shad spawn when the wind is blowing at 30+ into point in the spring. Yes it is rough but you can load the boat at the right time. This requires long boats and long shafts on trolling motor for me to fish. The wind is your friend if you do not mind the rough ride and rough water while fishing. The deep bite I do not mind the wind up to about 25-30. just my .02

I can remember being caught out on a lake when the wind/waves got high but you had to make weigh-in. Maybe you wouldn't have launched had you known the wind was going to get that high but there you are. I've speared 4 waves in a lifetime ... all in 18' boats. That's when the value of TOW can't be under estimated. I believe you can keep yourself safe when caught out in the most extreme weather but you must know how to operate your boat.

It seems like every time I go fishing the wind is blowing like crazy! So I really don't have an answer LOL.

Depends on the lake and direction. Have fished in 40mph.

Depends on who is with me. My wife and anything above 15 n we head in. A buddy with me and we've fished in 30mph. I usually try to find a calm cove if it gets high after I'm on the water. A longer boat is a blessing in higher wid. Learned this from the bay's.
