I had several Loomis rods over the years, mostly the IMX series and decided to try out a GLX. At the time they were $100 more than the IMX. After using them side by side I would not spend the extra $$ for the IMX even though it is a little lighter in weight. I just did not feel it was a $100 upgrade.

If you find a great deal on one, I would not hesitate to buy it.

Alright. I found one for 150 but I started trying to find reviews and a lot of people are saying the 854 isn't that good of a rod for the money. One guy compared it to a dobyns 744 and he said the dobyns is quite a bit better. So I think I'm gonna hold out and try to find a dobyns for a decent price

I have two of those and they are great rods. Mine are the older ones with recoil guides. It is a very versatile rod. I use mine for jigs, t-rigs and pitching. As far as action, it will be one of the more powerful 4 powers you have ever used. GLX is known for it's sensitivity. To me $150 is a great deal if the rod is in good condition.
