I have some family coming in from out of town at the end of April and want to take my dad and brother up to Texoma for some striper fishing.

I am new to the area and looking to everyone for some references rather than blindly selecting a guide just because they have an opening that fits our schedule.

Any infomation that can be provided is appreciated.

Landon

You will see that JD Lyle Gets rave reviews from people on this forum... Why ? Because in my mind he is the best... Top notch guide and top notch equipment.. and you gotta see that new boat of his.
I spent years going out with numerous guides on Texoma and 3 years ago came across JD via this forum.. Ive been fishing with him 4-5 times a year ever since and will never go with anyone else again. In fact I've got another trip scheduled with him in 3 weeks.
Here is his website www.texomaguide.com

Good luck in your search

So you are the guy that has my Friday booked with JD! Just kidding. I was going to book JD for a Friday but he was booked. He set my group up with Mark and I can't wait. Both of these guys are super in the boat and getting you on fish. Come on spring break! You have JD's web site here is Marks.

Jeff and Mark are some of the best. Give them a call, and they will take care of you. 100's of fisher people that have used them and recommend them can't be wrong.

Not too much, but if JD and Mark were busy I could've taken them to Taawakoni anyways. Besides I have a lot of experience on a lot of lakes.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone...I appreciate it as always.
Toada.. good luck in your search. There are plenty of good guides up here to choose from. I would be happy to talk to you about booking your trip and if Im not available I have numerous other FULL TIME guides who work with me I can set you up with including Mark who works side by side with me.
Here are a few things to caution you about when searching for a guide .
Look for a guide that works the lake. There are many out there who say they guide on Texoma and in reality fish up here 2-3 times a year. In fact many of those Im referring to try and call me asking for advice.. whats wrong with that picture ??
Be very carefull about the ones who call themselves Guides who in fact have just gone out and bought a boat and paid their money for a guide license and walla.. they are a guide...I hope im not sounding too negative but these are serious things you have to be carefull about up here.
ask them what kind of boat and equipment they have...You'de be suprised at what you can walk into if your not careful. how would you like to book a fishing trip and show up with a guide sitting in a 16 foot old boat with duct tape holding on the cowling of the motor? Laugh if ya want.. but these are all real issues that happen everyday...

There a few "real guides" and many pretenders on Texoma...

Thanks in part to the TFF I fished 220 trips last year and brokered out another 30 + to my partners... I fish not only those 220 days per year but many and most of my days off as well....Probably on the lake 275+ days per year.. there are some who know the lake as well as I do .. but not many. And certainly not many that fish as many days as I do... What does that mean ? well really not much but your chances of success in going with a real full time guide are greatly increased. During the good times anyone can catch a limit of fish.. What I call "heros" who beat their chest and think they are the best... look at back posts.. this happens every year when anyone and everyone can catch-em.. but look whos talking when the fishing is hard...
Forgive my rant but sometimes having to compete for business with the wannabees up here just kind ticks me off. I dont know how some of these so called guides ever get any business at all..The only satisfaction I get from it is when their customers call me the next time cause alot of the pretenders never earn any repeat business... In 2006 out of the 220 trips I did about 75-80% was repeat business.
I fish for a living.. this is what I do.. Dont have another job and dont just fish weekends to make my boat payment.. the choice is yours .. Good luck in your search just trying to help ya see what your up against.
Oh BTW.. I still have a few dates open in April. If I can assist you just contact me via my website below

As a guide myself, I recommend JD, Ricky, Mark, James and Wayne...after that you can put me on your list...I don't fish for a living, but I do catch fish....joebear

I have used Rex Bridges guide service a couple of times and am going with him again this summer with the kids. He is a great guide with a nice setup. He will keep you laughing and learning the whole day plus catch plenty of fish. He is awesome. He also sends you discount coupons for your next trip.
