Been up there many many times and have run most of it. I can honestly tell you there is no safe route, especially right now. With the water at the level it is now I really doubt you will find anyone running much up there.

Jody,
There were plenty of non locals running the north end this last weekend and the only damage I saw was one broken skeg. I did hear some admit to running in stump fields before they realized it but got lucky and didn't hit them.

It's tough getting north right now for sure. As far as hugging the bank you will do like 3 boats I saw recently doing that high centered on sand bars. I've run the pipelines before and it can be scary with a pucker factor with stumps within 2 ' of both sides of the boat.
