Whats yalls opinion on the best way to entice a bass thats just busted something on the surface near your boat or where youre standing on the bank? Do you try to mimic what you think he hit, like shad in open water or a creature near the bank even if it takes a couple minutes to rig up? Or do you look for a reaction bite? Do you tend to throw a top water or something else?

I keep a spinnerbait tied on 24/7 just for such reason.
Throw past him and reel in, you have a good chance of catching him

How many times does that happen? We all instinctively do it: near by splash, quick reel in, & whoosh -- we fire away at the swirl. It seemed it never happened to me before, that is, caught the alleged fish that surfaced until one day last year during practice on Ross Barnett. I was fishing a weightless Senko if that tells you anything. 3 times it happened that day. The first time I thought to myself, "cool, that never happens". After I shook the 3rd one off I turned to my partner said, "dude, this will never happen to me again in my lifetime." Hasn't happened again since.

If your not catching the fish that just busted the water next to you than it probably wasn't a bass to begin with. A bass busting the top of the water is the easiest bass in the lake to catch.

A whopper plopper has always got me bit when fish are busting the surface. Also agree with a senko or fluke!

It can be hard to catch the fish that is chasing the shad but often there is more than one fish chasing. I like a fluke or a crankbait myself.

Buzzbait works the best for me. I throw past the splash and reel it AS FAST AS I CAN.
The faster the better, you can't reel a buzzbait faster than a bass can swim. This will usually get the bass to react.

that single fish is actually feeding. while throwing something similar might work, But I believe you can throw anything that will get his attention will work. Noisy, bright, big, etc. Create a commotion.
for schools feeding I Like a top water or a trap
