Hello, First Post - I am just getting into fishing and i'm learning as I go. My question is, how do you guys quickly change between lures? Do you use a snap swivel on your main line to connect to a barrel swivel on a leader tied directly to the lure? What type of leaders would you suggest? (Not metal obviously). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

On cranks I use a Berkley snap and on swimbaits also. Other than that I just retie. After a little while you can retie pretty quick.

A polamar knot or a San Diego Jamb knot.
I hate swivels. Tie direct to the lure
You can swap lures out just as quick as someone can with a snap swivel

For crankbaits only, I use a wire snap until I establish a size and color pattern. After I know the bait I tie directly to the lure.

When I started fishing I thought about that too.
Just save the struggle and missed fish and tie direct man. It's the right thing to do.

Buy about 30 rods. Lol or cut and tie. +1 To the Forum. We are glad to have you asking questions. About 8 of them on the deck solves all those problems of tying. I can understand though if you are bank fishing. No swivels, just the wire snaps. I like the Cordell brand and use them on top water and crank baits. Spinner baits with a twisted line tie can be clipped on with no problem. I only use a leader on C-Rigs.

Just learn to tie a palomar knot. You will soon be able to tie this knot quickly and will learn to trust it.

+1 It's the only knot you need unless your tying 2 lines together.

If you want to tie your lures directly, fine. I, however, do not. I slip a small swivel onto a Norman Speed Clip and use them. My choice.

Used both the palomar and jam knot. Much prefer the jam knot.

For cranks and jerkbaits I use a quick snap . NO SWIVELS!!!
The snap allows the bait to swing freely and I think it helps the action, especially with a jerkbait.
Oh, did I say NO SWIVELS? ok, good.
