Bought a Sears PM in May of last year and now it will not hold a charge. Everyone gave it rave reviews, hence why I bought it. What gives, man this [censored] gets old quick.
Now I need to get me a new cranking battery. Any thoughts? Need to get it tomorrow.
Thanks

I had a similar problem ( not a Sears brand though ) . After taking it back twice , it turned out to be an issue with my charger . I had an old school analog type ( circa 1999) , it was "overcharging " one of the three outputs ( the one connected to my starting battery ) and the other two slots were fine . Replaced the charger with a newer "digital type " and no more issues . Apparently the newer versions , sense the voltage and charge stat of the batteries and seldom overcharge them . tight lines , Robb

Another thing many people don't know or realize is if you have an outboard that has an ECU in it, it will continuously draw current even if the switch is off and will run you battery down. Many people will charge the battery and then turn off the charger. Power Poles will do the same thing. Many Boat Mfg. are now putting battery isolator cut off switches to prevent this from happening.
Before you throw the battery a way go to an auto parts store and buy some battery acid and replace the acid in your battery. One other thing to look for, just because the battery is new to "YOU" doesn't mean it is a new battery. Many dealers will let batteries sit on the shelf for a year or longer. These batteries will have a very short lift span.
John K Fontenot Diapers and Politicians need to be changed often; and for the same reason.

What people don't understand is our boat batteries take a beating, like it was said your boat can drain it down, it's not used every day like your truck and we all stick a charger on them , I have a friend that had a battery shop for 20 years and he has told me that any battery will not last long with the up and down and what we put them through .
If it was easy, everyone would do it

If you don't already have one, get one of the digital chargers that are designed to stay on all the time. They keep your battery at full charge and extend the life. Mine stays plugged in whenever I'm not fishing.

Batteries in our boat take on so much abuse , not only the charging demands but beating it takes on H2O , if I get two years out of any one of five batteries I am happy and I have tried most brands , it's going to go down on you sooner than later , worst time also .

Not gonna be any help for tomorrow, but when u replace the stuff, go with noco gen 3 charger or gen 4 chargers and Deka batteries, starting battery is 24m7. In Mar. 2017 my boat will be 12 yrs old,it came with deka's and I have bought 1 other set, yeah that's 6 yrs on a set, just FYI, I am the worlds best at abusing batteries,so these things will last

When you buy a new battery check the date code on top of the battery. It tells you the month and year the battery was manufactured.

if you have the space i would recommend the cabelas amg size 30. You can run livewells, electronics, powerpoles all day and always start right up to get to weigh in.

It is that you are not using the correct charger for the AGM battery. Ive been running AGM batteries in my boat for four years without a hitch (since I changed chargers).
