A Zoom 4" green pumpkin Dead Ringer worm was my go-to worm five years ago when I was fishing in clear water. It Later stopped working for some reason I never understood. Now I am fishing in a lake that doesn't have vegetation and the water is badly stained from wakeboard and ski boats. My 7" Power worms, my most recent go-to worms, have also stopped working. The bass are currently feeding on small shad, so I probably need a small worm again, but one with a color for stained water. This notion is strengthened by the fact that my fishing buddy caught several bass this week on a 4" pumpkin color worm, brand unknown, an old worm he dug out. If you have any suggestions of something that might work on a light weight Texas rig, brand and color, based on your experience, it would help. Many thanks and tight lines.

Appreciate the reply Jaret. After I settle on a particular worm, I'll order some in that color.

Try the J-Bug by V&M. Either in Moneymaker or Watermelon Red.

Berkley Power Worm 4" I assume you're talking about Lake Austin? If so, I have a very good solution for you right here. I've had great luck on LA with this worm in the Tequila Sunrise color. It has plenty of scent as well, so the fish will be able to pick it up easily. Roboworm Curl Tail Worm 5.5" If the Power Worm doesn't suit you, then try the Roboworm 5.5" Curl Tail Worm. I've had good luck out there with this worm also. I like the MM III color. Roboworm also makes a 4.5" version as well.

New Start, Colin County, bigbass94, I thank you for the replies. bigbass94, yes, I am talking about Lake Austin. I fished Lake Travis with the 4" Dead Ringer and also LA when it had hydrilla. It worked great for quite a few years and then seemed to stop working. I haven't been able to catch anything on it in LA since the grass was removed and the water became muddy. A change of color might give it new life, something I guess I should try. Tequila Sunrise has always been a good color for me. I'll definitely try the 4" Power Worm in that color.
I'll now Google and look at the other worms you guys have listed and then get an order off. Appreciate the help very much.

If they won't bite a 4" Zoom finesse worm in green pumpkin on a shaky head, go to the house.

If they are feeding on small shad, you should probably be throwing a small grub.

Suggestion: You might try a 4" Pumpkin worm similar to what your buddy was throwing. Hmmm

Back when I bass fished a lot a pumpkin seed power worm was a good dog days of summer worm. I was always fishing deep this time of year. so there was something there with that color and depth of water. June bug worked good too. And of course solid black was the best all around color.
You might try something a little more bulky like a craw worm or creature bait. I love the baby fork creatures.
Have you tried crank baits?
