Cool video! where was that at?

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

fish, that is a genuine Thailand longtail outboard. On this side of the pond we call them mud motors. It uses a go kart motor for a powerhead. Since go kart racing is so big, you can hop-up one of these motors just like a 350 small-block.

I bought my kit from SPS North America:
http://mudmotorkit.com/

I bought the power head from Harbor Freight
http://www.harborfreight.com/engines-generators/gas-engines.html

Bone-stock-out-the-door the kit cost me $571.74 (2014 USD) for a 6.5 horsepower motor.

With the current modification on the motor I've at least doubled the horsepower. Now I'm running 12.3:1 compression, billet flywheel, billet rod, Mikuni 22mm carburetor, cheater camshaft. Basically I rebuilt the motor with go fast parts.

That is a great video Willie! Does that one rod have a rope wrap for a handle? That's brilliant!

And I also agree with the motor! Sure, too many they may seem kinda funny looking at first, but to me they are a much better deal than a normal outboard. Easier to repair (it's just a lawn mower engine, parts are easily available and any small motor repair guy can work on it). Also as you demonstrated easy to modify. It goes in shallow water and can take "hits" from objects much better than a normal outboard. And last and of course not least...the price! Less than $600.00 for a new motor that hauls a$$ on your boat. A new 6hp Mercury sells for $1,769.00 at Cabelas!! I guess that shaft from the motor to the prop on the Merc costs $1,100.00!!

Yes, both rods are wrapped with cotton 1/4 rope and varnished.

These motors are reliable and cost effective. That just plan work.
