I left a container of punch bait setting in my boat. It has been there for a month in a lot of 100 degree heat. Is it still safe to use or should I dispose of it?
What do you do with your Punch Bait between trips?

Don't know why it would be bad. I have punch bait in the garage that's 2 yrs old, still stinks and works fine, lol. It gets pretty warm in the garage too. If anything, it might be a little soft if it's still hot but nothing a little time in the cooler can't fix.

Like Scott said it will still be good. During this time of the year I stick mine in the freezer the night before I fish.

Dusty Rivers,
If you can, tear up some cat tails and mix it good, will toughen the bait, I Would NOT use dryer lint, too much scent. I do have some I know is over 10 yrs old.
You bettcha! oofta!

My punch bait sets in the boat all the time. The night before I go, I will place in my ice chest and put some ice in it to help thicken back up. I stir it first to get the good stuff mixed back in. Cattails are great to thicken up. Plus it helps with holding the bait on the hook much better. Use to be a guy who made his with cattails. But he and his wife got a divorce and the judge made them split the recipe. He didn't get the cattail part and she won't sale him that part of the recipe. Sez it serves him right for getting the boat.

I've thrown a bit of all purpose flour in it and stirred it up to thicken so it stays on the hook better. Just don't tell my girlfriend!

I wouldn't think a fish would be able to digest insulation.I could be wrong.

We use corn starch, but if I can get some cattails, that's the way to go.

I have caught loads of catfish on punch bait but prefer to use dough bait. Stubbys cheese bait catches fish and does not stink nearly as bad as punch bait. I being a regular cat fisherman am not nasty nice but prefer to not smell nasty punch baits.
